DEADLINE 7/24: Internship Opportunity in Nairobi, Kenya

I recently received this email from the folks over at Africa Outlook:

To whom it may concern:

I am writing to inquire about sharing information with your students regarding an internship opportunity for Fall 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya.

We are a non-profit organization based in Washington DC whose mission is to facilitate sustainable development in East Africa through establishing partnerships with local non-governmental organizations, and mobilizing the skills and commitment of university students to build up the capacity of those organizations. We are affiliated with African NGOs in a variety of sectors, including health and sanitation, children’s issues, women’s empowerment, education, environmental conservation, poverty reduction, democracy and governance, peace and reconciliation, and community development. Internship placements are made on the basis of the skills and interest area(s) of each student, as well as on the needs of our partner organizations. Since each internship is individualized, the actual content of the work can vary greatly, and can be tailored accordingly. Some of the tasks that our previous interns have engaged in include: advocacy work, grant writing, monitoring and evaluation, research, project design/management, communication, and web design.

We are currently accepting applications on our website at: www.africaoutlook.org.

Each application form must also be accompanied by a resume, and the deadline to submit all materials is July 24, 2011.

Please let me know if there are other avenues where our information can be shared with students, and if it would be possible to send you some brochures for distribution at your office.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you further.

Sincerely,

Michelle Nelson
